QPrize from Qualcomm

The Qualcomm Ventures QPrize™ competition is open to entrepreneurs in India, North America, Europe and China and will provide US$550,000 in total seed funding to help entrepreneurs transform their innovative business plans into reality. India Regional winner will receive US$100,000 of convertible note funding. The India Regional Winner will also have the opportunity to compete with other Regional winners for a Grand Prize of an additional US$150,000 of convertible note funding.

mquiz results

The MQuiz conducted by MoMo Bangalore saw a great turnout from the quizzing community of Bengalooru. Held at the IIM Bangalore campus auditorium, 37 teams from all the top colleges and corporates of Bengalooru turned up for this battle of Mobilized Minds. A common written prelim round was followed by two entertaining on-stage finals - one for the colleges and one for corporates.

The college round witnessed a very close finish with the winner being decided through a set of tie-breaker questions - BMSCE Bangalore pipped BITS Pilani to the post. In the corporate round, it was domination all the way from the seasoned duo of Tejaswi Udupa and Mitesh Agarwal from Yahoo! and Sun, who comfortably won the quiz.

The audience had great fun too and won loads of prizes. The winners in both tracks took home Nokia 5800 Express Music phones and all finalists won prizes. The prizes were given out by Sanjay Swamy, CEO of MChek.

The quiz content and hosting was managed by Nexus comprising of Venkatesh S (Venky from Peek Mobile and Vivek Karthikeyan (kivi) from EskoArtwork

Some statistics:

· 22 Corporate teams and 15 college teams took part

· Cut-off was 13 for corporate and 11 for college teams, out of a maximum of 25 questions in the prelims

· In all, 100+ questions were asked on the topic of communication, telecom, wireless and mobile

6 vs 2

When we planned to close MyDuniya, I have few options in front of me.
1. Go back to employee world, look for good job be there
2. Pursue my entrepreneur dreams.

My VOTE is always for the later one. Just give the confidence to family thought to have have few offers in the hand. It is more like half hearted attempt. To my surprise I had got six offers in a month. Two of the offers are really good.

As I decided to have own startup, I thought to employee two freshers. I had given offer to two people.

That is what 6 VS 2. Many people says "only time will tell, whether i made right choice or not". But I am very clear I made the right choice.

Now we are there full time employees at NUMO Solutions.

PS: I am one of the first employee of MyDuniya.

Speaker: Ashish Sinha, for the last few years has handled product management functions in enterprise as well as consumer space. He runs pluGGd.in , a technology blog that profiles Indian startups and deals with technology landscape in the Indian context. He is a alumni of IIT Roorkee, IIM Bangalore.
